I've seriously been addicted and listening to all her videos she has up on YouTube!
I want her to send me a CD.
The End.
(me & Jen on top of Angels Landing in Zion.
Proof I'm country because I wear a cowboy hat??
Probably not, but I do own 3 of em...and cowboy boots.)
I don't know if it's because I'm from
the wide open spaces of Montana,
that I'm a romantic,
that my parents listen to it,
or some other factor.
But whenever I need to unwind,
I'm having a hard time,
or I'm feeling extra lovey,
it's country music I turn on.
I feel like it re-centers me,
makes time go slower,
makes the world seem more innocent
and simple.
In fact it makes life feel small town,
like my home town of
Kalispell Montana
and the summers I spent at our place in
Salmon Idaho.
I love that feeling.
**I should put a disclaimer that not all country music is awesome and makes me feel this way. Just like not all Radiohead makes me want to make out...unless it's In Rainbows, that album totally makes me want to make out!
It appears I'm going to have to eat my words that I wrote in my hate post about Lady Gaga. Scott you better stop reading now cause I know of your aversion to her...that we once shared. I admit it now...I like her. Ever since Glee (which is one of the best show's on TV) did Lady Gaga day, she's been slowly seeping into my like category. It started with me buying the Glee versions of her songs from I-Tunes and loving them.
So then the next step of course was to borrow a CD from my pal Nicole (the one I actually gave her for her birthday) and copy it. It's one of my favorite CD's to listen to now. I still think Lady Gaga is a dirty freak, but she's gritty and raw and knows how to spin a beat. The girl has a gift for songs that just hook me.
that there can be no in between. I'm not sure that's true though...why would anyone hate Neil!?!? He IS the Jazz Singer!! In fact the sexiest you will ever see Neil is in the movie The Jazz Singer. He grows a beard at one point of the movie and is sooooo hot!! (I wish they had those pics on-line) Don't get me wrong though, I think he's sexy now! That man will be sexy until the day he dies!
My mom went to his concert a few Christmas's ago and she said that he pulled a woman on stage, kissed her, then looked at the guy she was with and said "Is she with you? Well now she's ready for you." Awesome!! Only Neil could do that and get away with it. I was lucky enough to go to his concert in December last year. I cried 3 times I was so ecstatic to see him and hear him sing live. I guess Neil just takes me to a happy place. On road trips growing up we would listen to the Jazz Singer album over and over singing along "Love on the rocks.
Ain't no big surprise. Just pour me and drink and I'll tell you some lies." Pure Gold!! Then every Christmas we would listen to his Christmas album. Christmas is never complete for me without my Neil Diamond Christmas Album. In fact, I have to listen to the album throughout the year because A. I love Christmas music that much, and B. I love Neil that much. I'm pretty sure that Neil could create world peace if everyone just listened to his albums and felt the flow of his soothing sexy voice. You can't help but be a happy person when you listen to Neil Diamond. I promise!
I've been listening to a lot of Oldies lately....like from the 50's! I know crazy! I gotta admit I love the stuff though.
It's so simple and makes me so happy. Now days you would think a song was lame if it had the lyrics they were writing then. Earth Angel by the Penguins is one of my favs!! (which how did they get their hair to look so silky?!?) I've always thought the 50's would have been so fun to be a teenager in (the 20's or the 40's would be fun in your 20's). Life seems to have been more simple in the 50's. According to the movie Crybaby and Grease you really only had two options: you were either a square or a greaser.
Now both sides have a lot of compelling arguments that make it hard for me to pick which way I would have gone. I know your thinking I'm totally a greaser cause I'm so rebellious! ;-) and I do love the hot fast cars and the sexy way they get to dress...
but then again greasers never go swimming...at least that I've heard of...and that would kinda suck. Plus I do so love the beebop rock, wearing poodle skirts, and getting pinned stuff.
Go to school dressed much like the poodle skirt wearer here, have my books carried by my boyfriend Jonny in the halls at school (sorry Scott, they were all named Jonny back then), Jonny would be a greaser in a black leather jacket & jeans & ride a motorcycle. I would be class VP,
and go to pep rallies, and belong to the country club (to swim & go to balls).
At night we would go to dinner at a place that serves your burger and fries on roller skates. We would share 1 malt with 2 straws. After dinner we would go watch my big brother Elvis play in his rock band and beebop
some cool swing moves. (FYI, all the girls are in love with my bro). After rocking out Jonny and I would head up to the makeout point that overlooks the city, listen to the radio (and hear "our" song, Earth Angel), and kiss with partial tongue for 1/2 hour. Then he would take me home and we would sit on my porch swing and talk until curfew drinking lemonade....I think that sounds totally realistic!

So I went to the Katy Perry concert last night, which FYI, was rockin! I was kinda amazed at how many beeyotches were there though. I know when some people get their concert face on they get mean...heck I've been known to be mean myself once in awhile. When I went to Cobra Starship a couple years ago some drunk chick kept bumping into me and spilling her beer on me when she had plenty of space to stay away from me....I said a few words that weren't nice to her, but I don't think I went out of my way to be a snatch...well maybe I did a little bit :-) In fact I would expect some hard ass's at a rock or punk concert, but not at Katy Perry. I mean she's pop. Her songs are funny and upbeat.
On stage she's silly and humorous. She in no way inspires any angst or anger in a person. So why were some girls threatening to punch people who ran into them? Or be so rude and think that your the only one who would like some personal space and get in the face of people who are just trying to watch the show? Also, what's with people who won't let you slip past them?? It's not like we want your special spot you've staked claim to and must own. News flash!! Your at a concert!! There are few guarantee's that you can expect at a show: no personal space, bumping, feet stepped on, stinky people, sweaty people, people moving around and trying to get by you and I'm sure a few more I'm forgetting. So a few tips: When someone tries to get by you and their saying "sorry, excuse me", let them by, I promise you there will still be room for you in your special spot. It's also good to remember that everyone is there to have a good time and see a band they like, just like you. I'm glad my friends get that and know how to just have a good time.
