Winter Wonderland

I've decided that snowflakes are my favorite winter thing. Here's why:

1. Whoville is in a snowflake.
2. They are all different and unique.
3. Walking around at night in a snow lightly falling makes the world muffled and peaceful.
4. You can make fun things out of snow: snowmen, snow angels, snowballs.
5. Snowflakes are super pretty individually and collectively. They cover the ground making everything crisp and beautiful.

It's a Christmas Miracle!

I'm always surprised when I find out people don't think Christmas is the most magical and awesome time of year. It really is folks and here is why:

1. Your heart grows bigger filling you with love and making everyone a little bit nicer and more giving like the Grinch.
2. Pretty sparkly lights & glittery decorations everywhere you look!
3. Decorating the house & tree! I love rediscovering the beautiful ornaments and the treasures to decorate the house with!
4. Good boys and girls. Kids are more well behaved and it's so fun seeing their excitement and innocence. It's infectious!
5. The yummy treaties that are in abundance. Especially the treats you only get this time of year like candy canes and eggnog. Yum yum!
6. Christmas music. Whether it's carolers or just goodness coming from the radio, you can't help but be happy when you listen to Christmas music.
7. Christmas movies (yes I'm also talking about the made for TV Christmas shows on Lifetime and the Hallmark Channels). They always end happy and perfect!
8. Snow! It's the one time of year that even snow haters wish for it. If that's not Christmas magic, then I don't know what is!
9. Giving and getting Presents! Who doesn't love getting presents and buying some for your favorite people or for those families in need!?!
10. Joy to the World! The spirit of the season is in everything, everyone, and everywhere you look! It's practically impossible to not be happy everyday!
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Purple-itis

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and I've come to the conclusion that this year I'm most grateful for the color purple cause it's my favorite. Forget freedom and loved ones, I've got a pretty color! It's a great feat to come to a favorite color conclusion after all. I've wavered over the years on this decision (cause I felt like I was being too girlie by loving purple), but I always come back to it and it's still awesome and I don't care if it's girlie cause it's a hot color! Here are a few of my favorite things that are a touch cooler than normal cause their purple:

Eyeshadow

Snow boots

Jazz Jersey

Tights/Leggings

Polish

Clothes

Converse shoes

Purple goes with everything!! It's really the most versatile and glorious of colors.

Singin with a stolen set of pipes!

Sometimes I like to pretend I can sing. I've always wished I could just pick up a guitar and sing some awesome song and amaze everyone. I would make the boys love me and the girls wish they could be as cool as me! That's probably why God didn't bless me with this gift though, he knew I wouldn't use my power for good, but for world domination. It's why I never learned guitar either, why learn to play an awesome song if I can't be the one in the spotlight singing it!? I guess I could always learn pitch and notes...but really, either you got it or you don't, and I couldn't hit a high note to save my life! So I settle for putting on my Ipod and pretending that the voice coming through the speakers is me and everyone loves me! My favorite pretend rock star voice is always Pink. If only God would have given me the choice I would have stolen her voice! I love how raw and gritty and amazing her voice is! I don't want a girly girl voice that's just pretty, I want soul and angst! Which is why when Pink comes on the radio I will never change the station....she has what should have been mine! There are a few exceptions when I go for pretty though, one is Faith Hill. Where Are You Christmas is totally my song! Sometimes I like to pretend I'm at a ward talent show singing this and I surprise everyone with this tremendous voice that I've kept a secret. It ends with everyone envying me and world domination. Hey if you're gonna dream, dream big right!?

Ps- If you can name what movie the title is from then you're awesome and we can be friends.

Whip It Good!

There is a part of me that really wants to be a roller girl. The part of me that likes to hurt people AND roller skate. The two go together like PB&J...kinda. I mean who didn't toy with the idea after seeing Whip It?!? That movie was roller derby awesomeness! Here's what's holding me back though.
1) I can't seem to find the perfect roller girl name. Here are a couple I've been toying with: Smackajewea, Punky Bruiser, The PunisHer, Avra Cadavera, Hot Fuzz, ManaTease (that one is for Scott)...none seem to fit just right though.
2) I would have to fork out over $100 bones for new skates, padding, and a helmet.
3) I would have to commit 3 nights a week to it for practice and bouts. That's the part that's really holding me up. I'm in softball one night a week and that annoys me. I feel like I already have a job that I have to be at 8 hours a day/5 days a week and church for 3 hours every Sunday that nothing else should demand a set amount of time from me.
...Ahhhh, what to do!? I'm torn...knocking people to ground sure would be awesome!

Going Gaga

It appears I'm going to have to eat my words that I wrote in my hate post about Lady Gaga. Scott you better stop reading now cause I know of your aversion to her...that we once shared. I admit it now...I like her. Ever since Glee (which is one of the best show's on TV) did Lady Gaga day, she's been slowly seeping into my like category. It started with me buying the Glee versions of her songs from I-Tunes and loving them. So then the next step of course was to borrow a CD from my pal Nicole (the one I actually gave her for her birthday) and copy it. It's one of my favorite CD's to listen to now. I still think Lady Gaga is a dirty freak, but she's gritty and raw and knows how to spin a beat. The girl has a gift for songs that just hook me.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Sooooo my birthday is coming up on October 3rd! Like you guys didn't already know! :-) I've decided this year I'm going to take a page from Madbeard and post my birthday wish list. No it won't be in a cool video format like his cause I'm not tech friendly with cool computer gadgets. So it's just a wish list with some links. Now don't feel obligated to get me anything...but if you want to I won't fight it.

School is cool!

With everyone starting school this week it's making me a little bit jealous. The weather has chilled up a little bit making the mornings perfect fall nippiness. I think my true calling in life was to be a history teacher or a librarian at a high school. Sometimes I debate going back to school to do this, but then the thought of paying all that money to make the same amount I make now doesn't seem like the logical thing to do. I do so love the atmosphere though! The smell of cleaning products and books in the halls; the excitement of starting each year fresh; the brand new school supplies just begging to be used; the new school clothes; the school spirit! I just love everything about school! I really, really look forward to the day that I have kids and I can volunteer and be involved at their schools. I can't wait to bask in it's awesomeness once again.

It's the Claw!

I've decided painted nails are weird and make people look like witches....unless their painted black, cause that's just coolor vanilla bean, which is my favorite, and to prove it is my nails hard at work here. I'll even allow a pale pink or other similar light colors.and pushing it but I will let a little funk slide and be ok for nails as well I'll even allow the painted nails to support your teams color...the night you go to the event. But every other time, every other color is either the witches color, evil, slutty, or just makes your fingers look stubby. Yes even those of you who love red...it's just scary and makes me think you want to claw my eyes out. Here is some shocking true life photos to support my case:

(this one is mental and may be plotting your death)

(total slut)

Now fake nails and ugly designs...that's just wrong and weird and makes you look like you live in a trailer.
I'm sure there are some instances where painted nails are cool and not scary or slutty or bitchy, but I would have to take that on a case by case basis. Also please note that these rules do not apply to to toenails...except the fake nail rule...cause that would just be weird to have fake nails on your toes.

Things that don't suck

To counteract the suck fest from my last blog entry I've decided to name just a few of the things I like most in the world today. Actually it's more than a few, it's double the things I don't like, but you better believe I like lots more stuff than this! Cause I'm totally a half full kinda girl.
In no special order:
  1. Disney Channel up and coming stars: Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, & Zac Effron
  2. Peacocks
  3. Patterns. I love all the different funky cool patterns that are out there these days...I just wish I was a bit more crafty to make stuff with em.
  4. The color yellow. I think I like this color so much because I can't wear it in large quantities. My skin tone is too olive, so it makes me look like I have jaundice. Yellow accessories? yes please!
  5. Raw brick walls & hardwood floors. Posh and timeless!
  6. Slippers to wear on said hardwood floors
  7. Flicks you wanna own. How great is it when you see a movie and you just have to own it cause it was so awesome! I love a good movie I can watch over and over again.
  8. Kisses...lots and lots
  9. A good hair day
  10. The Jazz. We're totally gonna rock this season, I just know it! D. Will is my second boyfriend.
  11. American flags blowing in the wind. Why do flags always look like they are in slow motion??
  12. Baby animals
  13. Going for a ride with Scott on his sexy motorcycle
  14. Thai Food. Tasty!
  15. Key lime pie. Double tasty!
  16. My grandmothers old jewelry. I love anything with a history and older pieces are more unique. Plus it helps me to feel connected to her.
  17. Modern Family. Most hilarious show on TV!
  18. Vampire Academy books. Totally teeny bopper, and way better than the Twilight series. Ahhhh Dimitri!
  19. Christmas count down app on my i Phone that plays Neil Diamond.
  20. Good cover songs. I love it when a new band take an awesome song and re-does it...cause really if it's a good song, is having it put out once really enough??

suckiest of the suck

I've compiled a list of a few of my least favorite creations that man has come up with over the last century or so. Seriously...what were they thinking!?! This is not in any order cause really they are all at the same level of suck for me.

1. Nylons. I have to wear them to work every day! Needless to say I break that rule, but why do they exist in the first place?? They are not cute, fashionable, purposeful, or comfortable! The occasional black sexy thigh high is the only one I will concede that has it's uses.

2. LA Lakers. I hate them and their little dog Kobe! I don't think it's right that they allow teams in big cities to go over the spending cap so they can get all the big name players to get them titles almost every year. Not very sportsmanlike!

3. Really fattening foods. I do not want to get fat, can't they just figure out how to make a really yummy food without causing obesity??

4. The movie Marie Antoinette. I wanted to slit my wrists I was so bored!

5. Atomic Warfare. It's just not nice.

6. Old lady perfume. Who was the genius that created these putrid flower scents and brainwashed all these old ladies into thinking it would make them smell lovely!?!

7. The Kite Runner. I hate this book and wish I never would have read it! This book and others like it that tell stories of kids getting raped and murdered and having crappy lives doesn't need to be written. Our world is bad enough without some dumb ass creating a whole new world of hate. Books are meant to be escapes from the real world, not emotionally wrenching pieces of suck!

8. Lady Gaga. Someone kill her already!

9. Man thongs/ Banana hammocks. Josie Grossie!

10. Sushi. It's raw people! We're not wild animals or mermaids. Let's cook our food.

If my dream of becoming a supervillian ever comes true these will be the first to go when I take over the world! Sssssuck it list!

Mother Natures Problem

Recently I went hiking up Bell Canyon with Scotty boy, because apparently this is his summer of hiking, which means this is my summer of hiking I didn't request. Not that I don't like hiking, cause I do! I love the beauty of being out in the middle of nowhere and all the pristine views you get. I even don't mind the fact that mother nature makes you have to work really hard to see the most beautiful views, cause I love me a good view as much as the next person. I like the fact that I earned that view and that no one is around except those I'm hiking with. I love the vastness of how far you can see when you finally reach the peak and the solitude you feel. The busy chaotic city life is muted and all around you is vibrant life. See, just proved my point that I like to hike and have me some good nature time. Here's my beef with mother nature though...

BUGS....why do they exist?? They do nothing but creep me out! Plus some bite you and you have to wear a stinky spray to repel them. Even the harmless little caterpillars that I find inching up my arm make me want to shower a million times over. I find I'm constantly checking my hair for any stowaways along the hike. So in reality during a hike I don't really see the beauty that is all around me because I'm too busy being OCD and checking that no bugs are near me or in my hair. Plus, how does all that dirt get up my nose?? I didn't snort it, yet it get's up there. And why does the water have to taste so weird that's in the camel-backs?? OK that last one isn't mother nature's fault except the fact I only use one of those when I go hiking. So that's it...that's mine and mother natures problem. It's been the same battle between us since I can remember...and I don't think she'll ever relent.

Ginger Lover

I'm sure some of you are aware that I have a thing for Gingers...mostly one ginger imparticular, and I'm sure you've asked yourself,"where does this ginger loving stem from??" Well let me tell you why the ginger is the cream of the crop . Recently I watched one of the most amazing classic movies of all time, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, it was one of my favorites as a kid. Now if any of you have seen this movie you'll know that all brothers in this movie are red heads! My favorite of the brothers was the second oldest Benjamin. Not only was the object of his affection in this flick named Dorcas Gailen (rad right!), but he was just uber hot...kinda like Jake Ryan from 16 candles.Lets move onto to the late 80's when all was pretty in pink, girls just want to have fun, happy goonies kind of life. Now who was one of the most bad A chicks from this movie era?? Watts I tell you! Some Kind of Wonderful made punk rock girl cool! Now not just any man can tame a rock girl like that. It took tender hearted lover boy Eric Stoltz! Now the this train rolls into the 90's...this actor first took my notice in a film we watched in school called "Barefoot in the Park" it was filmed in 1967. He sealed his fate with a top ginger spot with his film from 69' "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Now I know you might be thinking Robert Redford isn't a ginger, but I beg to differ...he is a strawberry blond bombshell! Still counts. This last looker is from the 21st century and is totally jail bait, but who am I to deny royalty?! The title of his article says it all. My Prince Harry is all grown up! In truth though, my ginger trumps all gingers cause he's mine and he's cool like that.I would recommend that everyone appreciate the gingers in their life while they still can. There have been some studies that the ginger may become extinct by the year 2060!! A travesty I know! It takes both parents to have red head genes to produce a redhead. Lucky for you all I have red head genes...so hopefully someday Scott and I will keep the ginger dream alive for you all.

**please note that I am aware there are more gingers out there than what is on this list. This is just a top 5.

Bonafied

Recently I've switched jobs at my work and I've been super busy trying to get everything up to my OCD standards. I'm not ashamed to admit that there is an order and place for everything and I can't rest until it finds it's home. The down side to this is that I have barely been on-line to read blogs or stalk people on Facebook. It's quite sad really. I'm good at stalking and I miss it. The upside is that my new job allows me to sit at a desk with a window! Yes you heard right! I'm totally legit and bonafide now. Did my job title change? No. Did I get a pay raise? No. Am I 10 times more awesome cause I have a window? Yes! Don't you listen to people when they say "You're good at what you do" "Oh look at your wall without a window full of degrees, your swell" "You matter". The reality is none of this is true until you have a window. Yay for me!
