Resolute Goals

I've realized I haven't made a resolution list in years!

I love goals...especially when I'm crossing them off.

Here are some items I want to work on this year:

1. Only concern myself with good friends who put an effort into returning my friendship.

2. Finish decorating the library/study/craft room.

3. Figure out my sewing machine and get to crafting!

4. Go to Thailand in March!
(this is #44 on my lifes list of 101 things to do)

5. Get  my bum back in shape and lose the 6lbs I've gained since being married and the 4lbs I gained planning the wedding...and then maybe throw in 5 more for good measure (and if that could all happen before Thailand it would be much appreciated).

Since I'm growing up I've decided I shouldn't make such a big wish list of items I want.

Really though it's because I can't think of too much that I'm dying to have this year.
I already got what I wanted most...Scott.
(cue the awwwwwww's)

So here is my bitty list of the few items that I think are pretty darn cool and I wouldn't mind having for myself:

• I love to Kill a Mockingbird! It's one of my all time favorite books. So why not wear a shirt and show my support. The website Out Of Print has a ton of cool shirts with old books on them. Plus each shirt sold they send a book to a community in need that doesn't have books, like Africa! I support and salute this endeavor!

• I like DVD's. Scott and I own almost 200. So here are some I've had my eye on:

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

Oh Brother Where Art Thou

Mary Poppins

• Forever 21 or Target gift cards

• If...(Questions for the game of life). It's a book of questions! I've always thought this would be fun for road trips.

• $$ Cold hard cash $$! Scott and I are buying a  60D Cannon Camera this year for our birthdays and Christmas gift to each other. Sooooo super excited about this!!! Everyone knows how much I love to take pics and I can't wait to have a camera that will shoot what I see and be awesome! Plus Scott really wants it to make some of the films the boys have been talking about doing. Not cheap to get a good lens to go on this bad boy though! Hence why we've canceled all other presents to each other for the rest of the year.

• Or you don't have to get me a gift at all and just be my pal and acknowledge it's my day :-)

Sundance 2011

I love going to Sundance! It's so awesome to meet the directors and actors and hear what they have to say on the movie. Plus it's just cool seeing something before the masses, it makes me feel posh and better than everyone. :-) This year Scott and I got a little carried away and spent a lot of money and saw a bunch of movies! Which was awesome, but also exhausting! Here are some of the films I saw in order of most favorite to least favorite:
(side note: most titles are links to their trailers)

1. Silent House. It was filmed all in one take and was scary and had a twist...It. Was. Amazing! Plus I think Scott is now in love with the Olsen twins little sister. She did do a pretty spectacular job though.

2. Troll Hunter. A foreign film and a documentary revealing the truth about trolls!

3. On the Ice. This one felt genuinely Sundance to me because there were no big names and it was the directors first big film. Plus the music and cinematography were beautiful!

4. Knuckle. A documentary about bare knuckle boxing in Ireland. Really interesting! By the end I really cared about this little family we were following even though I couldn't understand everything they said.

5. Submarine. This was an all around good film. I liked the way it was directed and the script, but I mostly just liked the director. Richard Ayoade is hilarious!! Seriously the best Q&A I've ever been too. I now need to watch the British series called the IT Crowd with him in it.

6. Perfect Sense. Ewan McGregor & Ewen Bremner. Love me some Scottish men! It did have excessive boobies in it which I was not a fan of, but the story was really cool and interesting.
7. Vampire. While watching this film I felt how long it was and got a little bored. It did move slow, but it was one that lingered with me. The cinatomagraphy was really good and the movie kept me thinking about the content long after it was over. It made you root for the serial killer...cause by golly he had standards!

8. Son of No One. All star cast!! Katie Holmes, Channing Tatum, Ray Liota, & Tracy Morgan. Another New York cop movie and yes I may have cried a bit.

9. The Guard. Another cop movie set in Ireland with Don Cheadle and Brenden Gleeson, it was pretty hilarious!

These last two films weren't bad by any means, it's just that I felt I would have been OK to wait a month and see them for half the price in the theater when they come out. Which they will eventually because of the names attached to them.

Every year we learn something new about how we want our Sundance experience to be the next year. This year we learned that it's not worth going unless it's the premier, no more shows in Ogden, and try not to pack so many films into one day when you had to get up at 4am. So excited for next year already! **Please note that Scott would probably not place these films in this order. You will have to ask him his opinion. Also, he saw 2 more films. Devils Double and Hobo with a Shot Gun.

Winter Wonderland

I've decided that snowflakes are my favorite winter thing. Here's why:

1. Whoville is in a snowflake.
2. They are all different and unique.
3. Walking around at night in a snow lightly falling makes the world muffled and peaceful.
4. You can make fun things out of snow: snowmen, snow angels, snowballs.
5. Snowflakes are super pretty individually and collectively. They cover the ground making everything crisp and beautiful.

It's a Christmas Miracle!

I'm always surprised when I find out people don't think Christmas is the most magical and awesome time of year. It really is folks and here is why:

1. Your heart grows bigger filling you with love and making everyone a little bit nicer and more giving like the Grinch.
2. Pretty sparkly lights & glittery decorations everywhere you look!
3. Decorating the house & tree! I love rediscovering the beautiful ornaments and the treasures to decorate the house with!
4. Good boys and girls. Kids are more well behaved and it's so fun seeing their excitement and innocence. It's infectious!
5. The yummy treaties that are in abundance. Especially the treats you only get this time of year like candy canes and eggnog. Yum yum!
6. Christmas music. Whether it's carolers or just goodness coming from the radio, you can't help but be happy when you listen to Christmas music.
7. Christmas movies (yes I'm also talking about the made for TV Christmas shows on Lifetime and the Hallmark Channels). They always end happy and perfect!
8. Snow! It's the one time of year that even snow haters wish for it. If that's not Christmas magic, then I don't know what is!
9. Giving and getting Presents! Who doesn't love getting presents and buying some for your favorite people or for those families in need!?!
10. Joy to the World! The spirit of the season is in everything, everyone, and everywhere you look! It's practically impossible to not be happy everyday!

Things that don't suck

To counteract the suck fest from my last blog entry I've decided to name just a few of the things I like most in the world today. Actually it's more than a few, it's double the things I don't like, but you better believe I like lots more stuff than this! Cause I'm totally a half full kinda girl.
In no special order:

1. Disney Channel up and coming stars: Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, & Zac Effron
2. Peacocks
3. Patterns. I love all the different funky cool patterns that are out there these days...I just wish I was a bit more crafty to make stuff with em.
   
4. The color yellow. I think I like this color so much because I can't wear it in large quantities. My skin tone is too olive, so it makes me look like I have jaundice. Yellow accessories? yes please!
   
5. Raw brick walls & hardwood floors. Posh and timeless!
6. Slippers to wear on said hardwood floors
7. Flicks you wanna own. How great is it when you see a movie and you just have to own it cause it was so awesome! I love a good movie I can watch over and over again.
8. Kisses...lots and lots
   
9. A good hair day
10. The Jazz. We're totally gonna rock this season, I just know it! D. Will is my second boyfriend.
    
11. American flags blowing in the wind. Why do flags always look like they are in slow motion??
12. Baby animals
13. Going for a ride with Scott on his sexy motorcycle
14. Thai Food. Tasty!
    
15. Key lime pie. Double tasty!
    
16. My grandmothers old jewelry. I love anything with a history and older pieces are more unique. Plus it helps me to feel connected to her.
17. Modern Family. Most hilarious show on TV!
18. Vampire Academy books. Totally teeny bopper, and way better than the Twilight series. Ahhhh Dimitri!
19. Christmas count down app on my i Phone that plays Neil Diamond.
20. Good cover songs. I love it when a new band take an awesome song and re-does it...cause really if it's a good song, is having it put out once really enough??
    

suckiest of the suck

I've compiled a list of a few of my least favorite creations that man has come up with over the last century or so. Seriously...what were they thinking!?! This is not in any order cause really they are all at the same level of suck for me.

1. Nylons. I have to wear them to work every day! Needless to say I break that rule, but why do they exist in the first place?? They are not cute, fashionable, purposeful, or comfortable! The occasional black sexy thigh high is the only one I will concede that has it's uses.

2. LA Lakers. I hate them and their little dog Kobe! I don't think it's right that they allow teams in big cities to go over the spending cap so they can get all the big name players to get them titles almost every year. Not very sportsmanlike!

3. Really fattening foods. I do not want to get fat, can't they just figure out how to make a really yummy food without causing obesity??

4. The movie Marie Antoinette. I wanted to slit my wrists I was so bored!

5. Atomic Warfare. It's just not nice.

6. Old lady perfume. Who was the genius that created these putrid flower scents and brainwashed all these old ladies into thinking it would make them smell lovely!?!

7. The Kite Runner. I hate this book and wish I never would have read it! This book and others like it that tell stories of kids getting raped and murdered and having crappy lives doesn't need to be written. Our world is bad enough without some dumb ass creating a whole new world of hate. Books are meant to be escapes from the real world, not emotionally wrenching pieces of suck!

8. Lady Gaga. Someone kill her already!

9. Man thongs/ Banana hammocks. Josie Grossie!

10. Sushi. It's raw people! We're not wild animals or mermaids. Let's cook our food.

If my dream of becoming a supervillian ever comes true these will be the first to go when I take over the world! Sssssuck it list!

The Head Cheese

I've been thinking about who I think are the best directors lately...not that I'm any kind of a professional, but I could be if I wanted cause I watch a lot of movies. This isn't in any order cause I would really have to do some research to make someone a number one...and I'm just not willing to put that kind of time into it at this moment. So this is just a top 5 of awesomeness.

1. Baz Luhrmann: Australia, Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Stricktly Ballroom
2. Quentin Tarantino: Kill Bill 1 & 2, Inglorious Basterds, Sin City, Four Rooms, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs
3. Jon Madsen (Which I'm thinking he should rethink his name to something that is a bit more edgy cause he sounds like he should be in sports and not film...just a suggestion): The Last Zombie Movie Ever, Massacre on West Capital, Cyber Stalker on Center, Aladdin
4. Alfred Hitchcock: The Birds, Psycho, Vertigo, The Man Who Knew Too Much, To Catch a Thief, Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, North by Northwest
5. Tim Burton: Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Big Fish, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Beetle Juice
I don't need to go into why each one is legendary because their films speak for themselves. All of them have their own unique way of telling the story that makes each shot art. Good job fellas!!

Head! Pants! Now!

Why I love Scotland and want to go there uber bad:

1. Nessie. You can't deny her existence! She is real and will reveal herself to me when I go there someday. Just look at this concrete proof of her existence:
2. Kilts. Seriously how hot would my ginger be in a kilt!?! He really does have the sexiest legs! Plus a man in a kilt is just yummy and dirty cause all you can think about is if they are wearing underwear??? Also, I look very good in plaid.
3. Gerard Butler. I don't need to say more on that.
4. Castles. I bet the country side is full of em!! Every where you look there will be castles upon castles!! I just love old buildings! Plus it would be way fun to go and stay in one and pretend I'm a princess and order people around and maybe fight someone with a sword.
5. History. Did you know they have a village, Skara Brae, that dates to 4,000 B.C.!!! How cool is that!?! (Is that a castle I see in the distance of these ruins?? Castle theory confirmed!)
6. Cathedrals. This goes along with the theme of the last two. I just can't get enough of old buildings and history! Maybe I love it so much, cause I feel like the US got gypped a bit cause we're a newer nation. I don't think we have near enough gargoyles and stain glass in this country.
7. Bagpipes. Just hauntingly beautiful. I bet you can hear bagpipes in the evening breeze every night in Scotland.
8. Scottish Terrier. They don't shed! Plus their uber cute! I really really want one someday.
9. Scott. Scotland has the name Scott in it so it automatically makes it a prime location.
How can you not love a country with so much awesomeness bursting from it?? I'm reading the history of Scotland right now and when I finish I think Scott should take me. In fact everyone should tell him to take me as a reward for reading such a big book and for putting him on my list of what makes the country great :-)

2010 To Do List

I feel good things about Twenty-Ten....nay I feel legendary things will come to pass in this awesome year of Twenty-Ten. Here's my list of to do's and expectations from my list of 101 things I want to accomplish in my life:

1. Marry in Temple: I'm pretty sure at some point my Ginger will finally propose marriage.

39. Make a quilt: I've always wanted to make my very own awesome patch work quilt. It's gonna be so fun!

60. Have no debt: I'm on course right now to have all my debt paid off by Spring!! To celebrate I will probably go on a shopping spree :-)

89. Go to a day spa: Seriously how awesome would that be!?!
