this is Halloween

Oliver's first Halloween was a success!!
We had people over to our house so we could hand out candy to the million trick or treaters in our hood and so Ollie could go to bed, in his bed, at a decent time.
We also learned a valuable lesson: Don't put two babies to sleep in the same room because they will just keep waking each other up.
Oliver thought that having the boys over earlier to play with was fun, but apparently when it's bed time he doesn't want to hear them.
(and now we know and knowing is half the battle!)
Look how cute they all are together though!

Tigger (aka Asher) is 3 months older than Ollie and Batman (aka Jethro) is 3 months younger.
It's nice that we have friends with kiddos the same age so that Ollie has some playmates!

We only took Ollie to one house to trick or treat since he doesn't eat candy yet (obviously). It was probably silly of us to even take him to one house, but I've been looking forward to having kids for so long I wasn't going to pass up my chance to experience the magic of Halloween night and trick or treating with my little!! He felt the magic of the night too cause we let him chew on the package of candy for a bit. So yeah, it was exciting for all of us.

Originally Scott was supposed to be wearing a nice black suit so that we could be all dressed up with our masks on, but the evening got busy with us making dinner for our guests, then the chatting, then the million trick or treaters, then a photo session of Ollie in his costume, then Ollie with his boys, then the Halloween movies. So by the time we thought of taking our own family photos this is what we ended up with: Scott and I looking half done and Ollie fully costumed. Hopefully next year we will have it more together for a family costume.

What to be for next year now?!?

ps- Don't mind the terrible lighting in all the photos. Apparently we need to get some new bulbs.

great gatsbyish

First off, themed parties are awesome!!
My friend threw a 1920's party this last weekend, and it made me realize that I have outfits for the 40's, 50's, 70's, & 80's, but nothing really for the 20's.
So sad.
My goal is to find an awesome 1920's dress that I can wear whenever I want (not just for parties).
Something like this one below found here:
Despite not having the perfect dress I still think I pulled it off...mostly.
(Sorry all the pics are from my iPhone. I didn't want to bring my big ol' camera to the party)
How cute is my bf Alex!

The tasty chocolate mustaches were my fav!

Also, I love that I finally found an occasion to wear the hair accessory from my wedding!

I got a pic of all the ladies together below but didn't get one of the boys....well besides the two above. Also, I only know 2 girls in this photo, but it looks more impressive when you see us as a whole all dressed up.
The next Gatsby/Artist party you will see me in an amazing dress!

Ps- I cannot wait for the new Great Gatsby to come out! I'm dying to see it!

costume up

Here are some options I'm thinking of for Halloween this year (I know it's a little late to start planning, but I've been busy with my paint by numbers).

Fantastic Mr Fox

Batman & Harley Quinn

Circus themed. Maybe all black and white like the Night Circus.
I could be a Ring Master
 Scott could be the Strongman

Or maybe a Lion Tamer
Or Scott could be the lion and I will be the lion tamer!! Haha! He can be a ginger lion.

Or I'll just be lazy and Scott and I will dress as each other.
This will be essential if we go that route:

In other news I'm off to Chicago for the week! Hopefully there won't be the bad luck we had last time! If there is I will be forced to believe Chicago is not my friend and out to get me.

Randomitis

Sometimes I get a case of randomitis (it's a real thing).

1-Why is it uncool to wear a t-shirt promoting the movie you are about to see? Unless it opening night of course, then you should dress WAY up!! There is just no happy medium with this. [**see note on bottom]

Harry Potter's last movie!!
Scott was Hermione (well as close to Hermione as we could get) and I was a Dementor (I had a black hood with my costume as well, but if I wore it in the pic you wouldn't see my pretty face :-). Our friend Craig was the perfect Harry and we may have acted out a few scenes before we left for the theater.

2-Along the same t-shirt line, I think it's funny that it's not cool to wear the t-shirt of the band you're going to see...I mean obviously you like them if you paid money to see them and wearing their shirt would show how much you do. It should be extra cool to wear it, especially if it's one you got at their concert years before. [**see note on bottom]
Note: I just bought this t-shirt, hence why I'm just holding it.

3-Along the lines of concerts I think instead of opening bands you should have magicians...to mix things up.

4-Sometimes I think when I have to pee really bad I could just eat bread or popcorn and it will soak it up...it hasn't worked yet, but it seems like it should.

5-Blase [blah-zey]; definition: indifferent to or bored with life; unimpressed, or as if from an excess of worldly pleasures. It is impossible to say this word without feeling a bit stuck up...kinda like the Heathers.

Just some stuff for you all to think about. The End.

** Please note I did not make this rule up. I'm going off of comments I've heard about how uncool this is my entire life.

good ol' Wes

Movies on summer nights are the best!
We finally went and saw Moonrise Kingdom over the weekend. I know, it's about time!!
Serious LOVE!!
Wes Anderson makes some of the most amazing movies!
He's actually my hubs favorite film maker, which inspired this costume of his a few years back
He even had a costume change that he was pretty proud of
(I was Iron Maven from Whip It, but next time I have a fur coat and blond wig to be Margot so that we both can be Tenenbaums together)

Life Aquatic & Royal Tenenbaums have been his favs for years, but Moonrise Kingdom may have overtaken them (which is really saying something for this movie snob).
Go see it if you haven't yet, I promise laughter will be had.

Also, this is one of my favorite summer outfits
The pockets are big enough to hold my phone, my Thor pez dispenser, & chapstick.
Love!

Christmas Cards

Want to know another reason why the Christmas season is so awesome??
The Christmas cards!
I absolutely love getting Christmas cards!!
Seeing all our friends & families personalities in the different cards is my favorite!
This is Scott and mine FIRST ever Christmas card!! It really shows our different personalities and how we perceive the Holidays perfectly.

I just love my little Scrooge :-)
Here's an extra pic just cause I love it
 MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

our first Halloween

I forgot to post what we decided upon for our costumes.
I must say I feel like we could have done so much better!
We had some pretty cool ideas, but didn't try to put it together until the day of the party.
Big mistake!
Next year I vow to plan ahead!
For pulling it all together last minute though it worked out.
I was wanting 300, but found Roman/Gladiator instead.
Also, side note, Scott's sword was real!
He was pretty proud of that, and showed off by cutting food at the party with it.

Below are our awesome pumpkins we did as well.
Scott's is The Punisher and I did the starry night.
Love em!

what to be for Halloweeny

Now that I'm newly married I want to do a couples costume this year.
I know you're thinking cheesy,
but so what!
That's part of the fun of being a couple!

Here are some ideas that I'm throwing around:
Margot & Richie Tenenbaum [Royal Tenenbaums]

Shaun & Liz [Shaun of the Dead]
(though Scott says he can't be Shaun with a beard, no shaving allowed)

King Leonidas & Queen Gorgo [300]
(but maybe dressed a bit less scandalous)

Other ideas: Rogue & Gambit (or Wolverine cause he's pretty much bearded);
Zombies that died going to prom in the 50's;
Circus: Bearded lady (for Scott) or wolfman & I could be half man half woman or maybe reptilian lady...I can't think of other circus freaks I could be since I"m not tattooed or pierced or tall or short. I suppose I could just be a lion tamer, ring master, or trapeze artist to go with the circus theme, but it would be better to be a freak.
I just don't know...
