how cell phones may kill you

Lately I've been thinking about my cell phone and how dependent I've become on it and how it may end up killing me someday....but let's start at the beginning.

It starts out small. You can't leave your home without it because you will feel "out of touch". Have you noticed how many people just walk around holding their phone? Not talking or looking things up....just holding. You feel naked if you don't have it with you.
(I totally do this)

Next thing you know it's vital for capturing photos you just can't do without because you need to post them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. because people just need to see this stuff! Things like the meal you just ate, a pretty tree, clouds and earth from a plane, a good hair day, vacation sites, naked babies, feet, arm outstretched close ups of you and whoever you think is cool at the moment.
(note: you can find all these photos on my Instagram. Username: steele_happy).

You know it's bad when you can't go poo without your phone....cause pooing is just boring without playing a game! Sometimes you end up sitting on the pooper longer just to finish the game.
 (Yup)

Now here is where this cell phone dependency gets scary. I have no idea what anyone's number is but my parents (they've had the same number since high school). If I get stranded in the middle of no where on my way home and I have no reception, but somehow I come across a payphone I can't call my husband to come get me or any of my friends and my parents don't know their numbers. Then bam! A blizzard will hit and I will freeze to death walking home!
or
I'll be too busy walking looking at my phone and a windowless van will pull up next to me and kidnap me. Bam!! I'm dead! Or I escape but the kidnapper was a rogue policeman so I can't call 911, but I don't know anyone's number so pretty much I'm dead again!!
or
Zombies attack and I lost my cell fighting them off, so I can't call the hubs to work out a meeting spot to get out of the city and he leaves without me and I'm alone facing zombies and I die cause no one can survive a Zombie Apocalypse alone! If only I had his number to call from a land-line to work out a meeting point!!

These thoughts cross my mind sometimes.

...

Sometimes when a friend has a family member die you need to make them tissue paper flowers and a cheesecake.
Cheesecake courtesy of the ginger of course (he's the best cook)!!
Me and Alex with our part of the gift:

On a side note I just got this sweater and super cool compass necklace
So of course I made them business posh for work.

This necklace is great because you never know when your going to need to find your way...also I think it could be handy during a zombie apocalypse...you know to find North and all.

Pictures of my mom's 70th birthday weekend in Vegas to come soon!

aaannd....action!

For those that don't know, my hubs makes short films with our friends.
Our friend Jon, aka Madbeard, is the main instigator, and he really has some good stuff!
You need to check out his You Tube.
Especially watch Chunderstruck, it's one of the most recents and some of his most genius work if I do say so myself.

Anyway...making movies is sooo much fun!!
No, their not big budget stuff,
but we have a good time regardless.
Here's the first one Scott helped direct:

THE LAST ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER!
(A rare moment with me in bangs and straight hair)

Eventually they'd like to get something into the Sundance Film Festival,
but that may be a ways off.

These last few years we've been doing the 48 Hour Film Project.
Which is a bit tiring!
They participated in one this last weekend and Scott only got a little over 3 hours of sleep the whole weekend!
You see, for the 48hr you draw out a genre and then you have to write, film, & edit all within the 48 hours.
If your late then you're out of the judging and you will never know how your film held up to others made.
Unfortunately the guys were an hour late this year :-(
Their film will still get viewed, just no awards for them.
Bummer, I know!
I don't have this years movie yet, but here is the film they made last time which I really loved:

Horror is kind of our genre, but there are plans to branch out this summer.

we're alive

Recently I discovered this pod cast called We're Alive.
Yes it's about zombies,
and yes it's giving me some anxiety.
At first I was critical of the acting,
but now I'm hooked!!
I can't stop listening to it,
and I'm really worried about their survival!
It kind of reminds me of The Walking Dead comics and TV series.
(The new season starts this fall! Can't wait!)
Everyone knows that zombies are my favorite.
They completely freak me out, but I just feel like in those scary movies I could handle the monsters and be one of the few survivors.
I was on a big zombie kick a year ago, but had to cool it because it was making me a little high strung.
I was planning exit strategies for every building or parking garage I went into.
I was always looking around to see what items could be used as weapons.
If I went out at night I would be scanning the streets looking for biters and freaking myself out!
Plus I was constantly worried about Scott & mine plan if there was an attack.
So yup...it's kinda started again.
I can't not watch a movie or read a book without putting myself into it and thinking what I would do.
So of course I've put myself into this podcast and the seemingly no win situations they get themselves into.
I couldn't go to sleep last night because my mind was racing with zombie images and plans of escape.
It's a problem, I know.
At least if the time ever comes I'll be prepared...I hope

Zombie Flicks

With an amazing zombie cabin outing earlier this month and the filming of our very own zombie movie I've been thinking about what would be my top 5 zombie flicks. Scott may be upset with me for this order but I will explain my reasons as I number them.

1. Zombieland: This could be number one because it's the newest...who knows?! It may be knocked down a few notches after I've seen it a few more times. I dig it so much because I feel that this movie is educational as well as entertainingly scary. Also, it doesn't scare me as much as other zombie movies. It is one that I could watch a lot without having to break out my night light...which I'm a fan of not being scared in my bed at night.

2. Shawn of the Dead: This movie started my love of zombie movies. It's legendary! Yes, it does scare me a bit...but in a funny sort of way...if that's possible. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are a mixture of awesomeness and atractivness, making this movie a classic must see multiple times a year!

3. 28 Days Later: This movie definitely has it's scary parts! Yes, I think people being infected with "rage" is ridiculous, but take that away and this could totally happen! I just know in some lab somewhere they are testing monkeys with some obscure virus and it's bound to get out!

4. Fido: This movie is about life after the zombie outbreak and having zombies as servants. I know I'm not the only that would love a zombie pet!

5. I Am Legend: This movie is freaky!! The zombies in this one are smarter than your average zombie, which I think that's why it freaks me out so much. The old classic zombie movies have them shuffling about, being slowdy powdies...creepy, but nothing I can't handle. When they start to get really fast and devious, then I have issues.

I realize that a lot of these movies on my list are funny ones. I'm going to let you in on a secret....I don't really like scary movies! In fact, I'm not as into zombies as everyone thinks I am. I just feel that zombies are the one part of scary movie world that I could actually handle if it were to happen in real life. Because what I think about when I watch scary movies is "What would I do in that situation?", which is why I get so scared in them. I gotta admit, that in most of the scary movies I see I would survive, because I'm totally a survivor!...and I would make Scott save me.

Zombies

Scott is always telling me that zombies aren't scary cause they only move at 1 mile an hour, but I just disagree. Sure they're slow but they're the undead!! They walk around all blank and creepy wanting to tear you limb from limb and eat you!!
I live on the bottom floor of my condos and I have a fear of waking up and finding zombies trying to get in through my bedroom window. Even though the likelihood of zombies attacking is unlikely it is still a thought that runs through my head most nights when I'm falling asleep in bed. I am pretty sure I would survive a zombie invasion though, cause I'm a survivor and have seen Shawn of the Dead so I know how to fight em off (fyi Scott, even though I'm tough you better still come and get me), but what if their super human zombies like the ones in I Am Legend?!? Maybe I need to buy a gun.
