home sweet home

In case you didn't know, we bought a house!
It's pretty darn cute! Though I must say moving is the worst!
It's part why I haven't been on the ol' blog in awhile. The hubs kept getting in fights with the internet people so it took us a couple months to finally get it hooked up.
Also, in case your wondering, I'm kind of an organized freak and have a hard time resting until everything is in it's proper place.
How Scott doesn't care the pictures aren't hung up yet is beyond me!
I mean it's been months and we're still not settled.
Annoying!
Anyway, here are some before shots I took on my phone with the previous owners stuff still in it.
Love the big red front door and I really can't wait to get a porch swing!
How awesome is this wall of book shelves!?! It's like a dream to have my very own library!
There are some serious windows in this place! They are all so big and on every wall. Love all the natural light!
Hate the tile and carpet. It'll have to do for now though cause that is down further on the list of To Do's. First painting, then baby's room, then kitchen update.
I will post what I've done when it's up to my standards....so like in a couple years or so.

things you should know before you get knocked up

For those of you who have never been pregnant I just wanted to let you know some things that might be beneficial for you to know before you plan on getting pregnant. I was unaware of these and I feel like I should have known about them beforehand...you know, to prepare myself.
Things to expect in your first trimester:
  1. Uncomfortableness. You will be uncomfortable...all the time...ALL THE TIME!
·         From the nausea, to the uterus growing causing some mild cramping, to the belly growing and clothes not fitting, to the food aversions and smells, to the boobs just hurting constantly....uncomfortableness!
  1.  Tiredness. Yes, everyone knows preggo women are tired, but I think you need to know how easily you will get wore out and how sleepy you will really be.
·         Shopping with the girls? No more marathon shopping these days! Better plan for nap time afterwards...and probably better not do anything but sit around the rest of the night too.
·         9pm? But it feels like midnight! Off to bed with you!
·         Want to climb that flight of stairs? You may need to sit down or hold onto something at the top because you will get winded and light headed.
·         It's the afternoon and you haven't napped yet? Well your body is telling you that you are way overdue!
·         You worked today? Better put your feet up and just sit for at least an hour when you get home.
  1.  Hungriness. I think being pregnant should be called the Hunger Games.
·         Oh you ate breakfast an hour 1/2 ago and your stomach is rumbling? It's cause you are overdue for a feeding and if you don't hurry and get food in you most likely you will die...at least that is what it feels like.
·         You're body requires you to eat ALL the time...does it feel good after it eats? Nope. No matter what I ate, my stomach gave me issues for eating it...then comes the gas...and it's stinky. Sorry hubs!

Now maybe there are people out there that know their way around these things, and those tips would be very helpful for future babies. Cause I tell you what, in that first trimester I was ready to never get pregnant again! But then in the second trimester you start to actually look preggo (which does wonders for your self-esteem after feeling just fat for months), and you feel the baby move, and sometimes he will wave at your during the ultrasound, and it's all worth it. :-)

Bob Wehadababyitsaboy

We're having a boy!!!

I kept having feelings it was a boy, but I pushed those thoughts aside because I super wanted to dress up a little girl! It just goes to show that thoughts don't create the babies gender!
I am super excited we are having a boy though...really I'm just excited to be having a baby. I'll take what I can get, I'm not picky!

Ever since I heard we were having a boy though this old Geico commercial from like 10 years ago kept playing in my head:
 It cracks me up!

Also, this shot below of me and my best friend makes us look like one hot lesbian couple! She took the pics for us on our camera and I just love her!

Yay for little boys and looking forward to being peed on! Haha! Also, name submissions will be accepted. We have no idea on names for boys!

birthday wish list 2013

Don't judge, but I started creating my birthday wish list in January. Yes I like presents, but more importantly like a boyscout, I believe in being prepared...especially when it comes to gifts I want. October 3rd is just around the corner people!

1. Portable Electric Fireplace!! Oh how I long to cozy up to one that's all cute and warm!
2. Picture and document scanner. Seriously who doesn't need one of these?? I find I wish I had one often. I have plans to scan Scott & my old family pictures to make photo books (instead of the 3 huge scrap albums we have that are very difficult to look through). Plus with kids now coming I want to scan their artwork to add to the photo book I'll make every year for them. Photo books are just so much easier to look through than giant scrap albums!

3. Plaid electric blanket. Cause I like to be warm alright...and also I like plaid.

4. Guess Who. You know the game. I've discovered that we have plenty of games to pull out and play with friends, but no 2 man games, so we end up play video games (meaning I watch the hubs play) and that's not as much fun.
5. Marina Groove perfume by Escada. I'm almost out and I love it! You can buy it at any mall in those perfume outlets.

6. These beautiful blue glasses...I have been eying this pair for over a year!
 7. Kinect for the Xbox. I want to play dance games!! Plus it's a good workout and once this baby pops out I will need something I can do at home....I'm sure Scott will share his Xbox with me...maybe.

8. Ceramic Stud Earrings. I love simple earrings! I want the Tiffany and Cloud colors...and also Peach and Orchid.

9. Utah State Charm. I already have a brass Montana charm and now I need a Utah one to hang with it! I suppose Utah has some of my heart too :-)

10.  Best Bites Cookbook - Seasons. This would be a fun one for the holidays. Think of all the cute treats I could make!

Or as always I will take gift cards for Etsy, Modcloth, JoAnn's, & Target....or just a happy birthday telling me how amazing I am...and maybe some food...mmmm apple pie caramel apple!

bills excellent adventure

Ladies and Gentlemen it has finally happened!
I am officially pregnant, knocked up, bun in the oven, with child, expecting a bambino, or however else you want to say it!
Can you say it's about time!!!
Lets just take a moment and let this soak in......
Also, lets take a moment to look at this photo and think how cute the children we make will be:
 I know, glorious.

Now not to taint the excitement of finally being pregnant, but this has also been tinged with some sadness.
Lame I know.
Originally we were due to have twins.
Can I just tell you how excited we were to be having 2!
I mean I'm going to be 35 in October so we really don't have many years left to have these babies.
Plus I admit I felt special that I was getting 2 at once.
We had started calling them Bill & Ted, because this was going to be an excellent adventure!
Unfortunately there was always concern about Ted because he was a week behind in size (which is actually normal), but then my yolk sac for him was measuring too large (seriously baby you are supposed to suck those nutrients up!). Then at 9 1/2 weeks we found out his heart had stopped beating.
Man oh man was I a cry baby that day I found out!
I may be greedy, but I super wanted them both.
Even though Scott was worried about having multiples, he too was really sad. Maybe he's even taking it worse cause he still is hoping for a miracle that the ultrasounds were wrong and Ted will be fine.
So here I am having my first baby and miscarriage at the same time.
Very mixed emotions.

Anyway, that's the story and we at least still have Bill.
Also, we are pretty sure that Bill will be a girl...because the fact is the Steele family seems to only have girls.
Most likely we will get the kid above, but I really hope she's something more like this:
Crazy red curly hair with a Scottish accent!!
Totally could happen!!

Be watching for baby Steele come March 20th!!!

capitols of Alaska

Juneau, the capitol of Alaska
We were super excited for the whale watching we would do in Juneau! Then this was all we saw. I know they are called humpback whales, but I kinda thought we would get more than that.
We also saw eagles, goats, & seals. Seals are kinda jerky though.

FYI, we had the BEST Alaskan king crab in Juneau...I'm sure you were all wondering if they really were tasty there.

Ketchikan, the salmon capitol of the world
We went to the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show and it was awesome! I think Scott could be a lumberjack.
Totems are cool. That is all.
So we went to a cute little souvenir shop on this riverwalk and the clerk was complaining to a friend about tourist ruining their town...ummmm here's a hint, you should be in a different line of work and maybe stop being a jerk face when people come that will spend money in your shop. Needless to say, we just walked out. Besides that one shop owner the town was super cute!
Ps- Alaskans aren't all mountain men. They can also be hip...like a boss!

Alaska Cruise - part duex

Skagway
This was the cutest little town with a population of about 200. Apparently the graduating class only had 4 kids. 3 boys and 1 girl. So I guess it's safe to say that she was prom queen...do you even have a prom for 4 kids?? I love small towns, but I don't know if I could handle a place that was so secluded and all your products came in by boat making it 10 times more expensive.
It had some great hiking though and was super quaint all the same.
For some reason the driver wouldn't let us off the shuttle to take a better pic of the bear...I know weird!

We went to a cancan show! They even called me up on stage to do the high kick with them. I'm pretty much a professional now.
So there was this out house in the middle of the mountain on my hike just as I was super needing the bathroom (for not number 1)!
Fate?? I'm not sure, but Alaskans sure know what their doing by having these on the trail and I thank them for that!
