Chi town

Chicago luck strikes again!! Seriously....I don't know why Chicago has to hate me and Scott so much. If you remember last year we got mini-mugged, bought fake tickets for a concert, I fell down the subway stairs, accidentally took a wrong cab costing us $100, and got buckets of rain dumped on us.
Total money lost: $210

This year......
 Incident 1:
First off, somehow in my life I have never had a delayed flight...ever. Weird I know. Of course on my way to Chicago had to be the first time. I sat...in the plane....for 2 HOURS!!! Siting that long you gotta play games on your phone, so I started to play SongPop, which plays snippits of songs and you have to guess what they are before your opponent. Jerky guy sitting 3 seats away in the row in front of me is not having this though!

Jerk: Is that your phone making that noise!! (giving me hateful eyes)
me: yeah
Jerk: Will you put your headphones on? (eyes bugging out of his head now and mouth pinched)
me: sure (I turn off game instead cause I don't want to put my headphones on)
Jerk: (Just stands there staring at me all jerky like)
me: you can walk away now (me giving him a disdainful look showing him I don't appreciate his looks)

Then the guy in the seat in front of me starts watching a movie without his headphones and does the guy say something to him?!? No!! What a tool!!!
 Wait time on plane

Incident 2:
You know how I was soooo excited for the Ghost Tour? Seriously to see the sites of the Valentines Day Massacre or where H.H. Holmes killed so many during the World Fair would be spooky awesome!! Well, on the way there we got 2 flat tires, so we had to turn around and get a different car that would make it into the city. Since we had to do that we ended up getting stuck in evening traffic for 1 1/2 hours!!! Which made us 17 minutes late for the tour and it left without us. Oh did I mention that they don't do refunds? Yeah that was $120 down the drain! Suck!! So we ended up eating a super yummy Chicago Dog (no complaints on Chicago food...ever!!). After we ate we decided to run up to Garrett's and get some famous caramel popcorn!! We "ran" because it was raining, but apparently you shouldn't jostle Chicago Dog's so soon after consumption because I barfed it up right in the middle of the sidewalk in front of people! (No I'm not pregnant) I was a bit embarrassed, so I ran off leaving them all with curious looks on their faces. We arrive at Garrett's and.....yup, it closed 15 minutes before we got there. Evening = unsuccessful!

** Side note: I wrote a long email to the owner of Weird Chicago Ghost Tours about how much Chicago hates me and he was sympathetic and super nice!! He said they don't normally give any sort of refund or voucher but he would make an exception and rebook us for a new tour when we go out next year!! Yay for understanding nice guys!! I would have thought my Chicago luck was changing, but then the next thing happened.

Incident 3:
I dropped my week old iPhone 5 in the toilet. I don't even want to talk about this.

Incident 4:
Every time we went into the city it rained...so I didn't want to pull out my nice camera to take pics. That blurry photo above is the only photo I took of/in Chicago. (I did get tons of pics of Naperville and the Notre Dam campus though).

Despite all the unlucky sucky moments we still had good times, but I feel those deserve their own happy post. Here is a teaser:

  1. Just a suggestion, get those vouchers now while he said he would do it. Who knows what will happen in a year.

  2. Dude! That stinks. And your phone... oh, your phone. :( Sad day.

I love that you put in the (and no, I'm not pregnant) disclaimer, because you KNOW that would have been the first questions from people. Oh, people.

I can't wait to hear about the good parts!
