our first anniversary

As I was going through our summer photos and organizing them, I came across our 1 year anniversary photos from June. Since we had just gone to Thailand in March we decided to stay local at a bed & breakfast in town. I super love B&B's! Someday I will get to a B&B in the NorthEast and eat lobster, visit lighthouses, and look into their local ghost/witch history. You know all those old New England towns got em! Anyway, this was our day:

The Inn on the Hill
The view night and day
 first anniversary= paper gift
Scott gave me Alice in Wonderland from 1934 and Rubaiyat of Omar Kyayyam from 1909, which is a Persian poem about life, living in the moment, love, death, and god.
"Here with a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough,
A Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse - and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness -
And Wilderness is Paradise enow."
Sometimes the Ginger really surprises me with how romantic he can be.
I gave Scott the complete scores of every Beatles song so that he can play them on the piano, guitar, drums, or whatever he wants. The Beatles are one of his all time favorite band!
The day was a perfect mixture of chilling, food, and togetherness. After we opened our presents we ate a tasty bacon filled breakfast on a patio overlooking the city, played some pool, went to a matinee, ate snow cones, did a little bit of antiquing, took a nap, then ate year old wedding cake. Which was super yummy! I'd say that was a successful day....especially food wise...which my life may or may not focus too much around.

In conclusion, wedding anniversaries are so much more fun than dating anniversaries! Seriously kids. I'm super excited to plan something fun and different every year! Especially with the presents. Next year is cotton so I need to come up with something Scott/nerdy/cool. If anyone has any different ideas let me know! (don't worry the hubs doesn't read my blog cause he's terrible like that, so anything you say is safe)

  1. I love that you love B&Bs. I love them too.

also, this made me laugh so hard:

"Sometimes the Ginger really surprises me with how romantic he can be."

    I KNOW, RIGHT?

Congrats on your first anniversary, even if it's a late congrats, haha, it still counts.

  2. Oh how fun! Where do you get the ideas for the anniversary themes? Is this something I'm supposed to already know?

I wish we still had our cake, but our reception guests ate it all. :(

    1. Each year has a "traditional" gift that your supposed to give each other. I found this site, but there are tons that will tell you the same thing.

I think that's why I think the married anniversaries are so much more fun! You have the challenge of finding a gift made out of copper or lace or wood or whatever that anniversary gift is that year.

    2. Oh, that's cool! I can't think of anything for cotton other than clothing or something. Or like a blanket made out of pillows. Doesn't that sound wonderful? I know my husband would love that.

  3. Married anniversaries are really fun! I went with paper for our first year, and I already know that I'm going to get my hubby a cotton t-shirt that says "My wife rocks" for our 2nd year. That's the way my sense of humor works. And I love bed and breakfasts too! We discovered those on our honeymoon--way more fun than a hotel.
