I'm claiming....

I've officially lived in Salt Lake 9 years now. Which makes it the longest place I've ever lived. I always had a theory that when people asked "where you from?", to say the place I lived in the longest. I know some people say that you claim the place you graduated from High School, or the place you were born, or the place your parents still reside. Is there an official ruling on what a person is supposed to claim??

I was born in Kalispell, Montana and lived there for the first 8 years of my life. I loved loved loved Montana!! Look how cute my home town is! It may have been small and we had to travel for 2 hours to do any real shopping but it's seriously the best place to be as a child. I was able to run wild and be a kid and explore without my mother fearing for my life. I would love to live in Montana again! Now because I was so young in Montana am I really allowed to claim it as mine??

My family then moved to Carson City, Nevada. I lived in Carson for 7 years. It was the hardest move of my life going from the beauty of Montana to sagebrush and dirt. But I did spend my adolescence here. Carson had a big hand in molding me. Plus, Tahoe was less than 30 minutes away! While I lived there I spent every summer up at the lake...that never gets warm, FYI.I can't say I would ever claim Carson as where I hail from. I had too hard a time living there to ever love it.

After Carson I moved to St. George, Utah. Talk about hot!! I lived in SG for 6 years. This is where I graduated from High School and attend my first year of college. I could tell you every detail about that town and the mountains around it. In fact my parents and 2 sisters still live there.I can't say I would ever live in St. George again though, so how can I claim it? Yeah I love to visit. It's a beautiful place, but I'm a mountain girl. I need 4 seasons.

So now I've lived here in Salt Lake City for 9 years! If you've been adding yes that makes me 30!! Next to Montana this has been my favorite place I've lived. I've really come into who I am in SLC. I love my life here!So when people ask do I say I'm from Salt Lake?? No, I don't think I will. I live here, I love it here, and am proud that I live here, but in my soul I'll always be from Montana.
